Hatsumi Sôke
Sôke Hatsumi Masaaki is the Grandmaster and head of Bujinkan – the history & tradition that brings together the nine schools of Martial Art namely:
Shinden Fudô Ryû - Kukishinden Ryû - Takagi Yoshin Ryû
Gyokko Ryû - Koto Ryû - Gikan Ryû
Gyokushin Ryû - Kumogakure Ryû - Togakure Ryû
In 1999 Sôke Hatsumi Masaaki received the International Culture Award from the Japanese government for promoting cultural exchange through Martial Art. A couple years later, in 2001, Hatsumi Sensei became the first Martial Artist to be awarded an Apostolic Blessing by the Vatican, signed by his holiness Pope John II. In 2007, Sôke entered the list of Japan’s 100 most influential people in the arts category for his continuous work in promoting cultural understanding and preserving an ancient Japanese legacy through Martial Art.
The Pope Benedict, the President of the United States, the FBI and numerous other key players on the global scene pay the respects to Sôke Hatsumi Masaaki on his recent birthday.
